• Every couple will have disagreements in their relationship, but being sad or angry when you’re many miles away from your s/o is a recipe for disaster. It’s important to listen to one another and try to understand each other’s point of view in attempt to come to a middle ground, but if that’s not possible and the conversation starts to get too heated…drop it!
• It’s important to feel connected in any relationship, but especially a long distance one. Lack of communication in a long distance relationship can prey on insecurities and overthinking. It’s also important to never have serious discussions over text message/email, unfortunately it leave too much room for miscommunication.
Think outside the box
• You may be hundreds or even thousands of miles away from your s/o, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find ways to keep things fresh. Ideas can include; sending each other handwritten letters once a month on your anniversary date, watching movies or sleeping together on Skype/Facetime, playing online games together or sending each other little surprises in the mail.
Have something to look forward to
• Not everyone knows when they will be able to close the distance, but it’s important to at least have something to look forward to whether it be a visit, vacation or maybe just an online date.
